KLAY Preschools and Daycare, in collaboration with the Goonj Foundation, successfully concluded the Gullak Sessions – a series of engaging workshops conducted across KLAY centres in Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore. These sessions were held with Goonj’s flagship initiative, School to School under the tagline “Together for Savings, Together for Change,”. This introduced young minds to the values of saving, sharing, and mindfully giving back to society. Goonj’s School to School initiative builds a relationship of empathy and dignity between urban and rural children, on two opposite sides of a big divide of resources and opportunities. Urban children learn to value their abundant resources as they become more aware about another India. Rural children learn about achievement as Goonj’s school material brings together all stakeholders, teachers, parents and village community.
The Gullak Sessions aimed to nurture empathy, social responsibility, and financial awareness in children through fun, age-appropriate and engaging activities. By fostering conversations about mindful consumption and community empowerment, the initiative helped children understand how small actions can make a big difference.
The success of the Gullak Sessions reaffirms KLAY’s dedication to holistic learning that goes beyond academics. The initiative will now become a regular part of the KLAY curriculum, ensuring that children continue to learn about the importance of saving, sharing, and collective action as part of their everyday experiences.
This meaningful activity aligns with KLAY’s December theme, “Joy of Giving,” further reinforcing the spirit of kindness, generosity, and compassion among children and their families. Reflecting on the impact, Arshleen Kalra, Head of Academics at KLAY Preschools, shared, “At KLAY, we believe in shaping compassionate and conscious future leaders. Our collaboration with Goonj for the Gullak Sessions across KLAY centres reflects this commitment by teaching children the importance of saving, sharing, and collective action. These sessions not only inspire young minds but also help them understand how small efforts can create meaningful change in their communities.”
KLAY recently reinforced its commitment to child welfare and education by donating the proceeds from a marketing survey for parents to SOS Children’s Villages of India and Pratham Books, supporting impactful initiatives that extend beyond the classroom. Furthermore, funds raised through the KLAY Karnival—a Children’s Day celebration for KLAY families— were contributed to Goonj to support their ongoing ‘School to School’ initiative. This collaboration with Goonj underscores KLAY’s mission to prepare children for a brighter, more compassionate future while empowering them to see themselves as change makers in their communities.
